I would love to do this to my Ducati *pic*
I think they all are ugly IMO id stick to a real chopper with a nice clean paint job. No airbrushing..graphics, stickers, skulls, tribal art, flames....none of that ugly junk. Choopers are such cool bar hoppers.

for $60k I'd have a duc 999r and a custom chopper that I built and a bmw 1200gs or aprilia v-twin motard. Confederates just don't do anything for me at all and I don't get what the attraction is. If I wanted a vtwin bike that handled well and had crazy vtwin power the italians and suzuki make several models that are better for 1/5th the cost
I agree.........you would defeat the purpose of buying the Duc in the first place......I just think this looks bad ass. Kinda like Roland Sands putting sportbike touches on custom choppers.

those bikes are cool, but i'd have no desire to own or ride either of them if given the chance

Nate, it makes no sense to me how you can compare a Ducati to a family sedan and then compare altering the suspension and frame geometry of the Duc which will negatively affect the function the bike was designed for to bolting a turbo and exhaust onto a sedan. The mods you mention won't take away from the function a sedan was designed for. You're comparing apples to oranges.
Regardless, my intention wasn't to start a pissing contest or dispute the fact that a lot of people mod their vehicles for the appearance or brag value rather than the performance benefit. I was simply saying that IMO it didn't make sense to stretch and rake a Ducati, regardless of the fact that it looks neat.

Got here late...........but here's my half a cent. . . .
How many Ducati's are in the top 3 spots for most major racing organizations?
Ducati's are cool..........plain and simple. Would I personally buy one? Only if I could afford to pay the extra thousands of dollars so I could have a "cool" looking bike. (no offense DoingOK). Now that doesn't mean that they're not great bikes...........just pricey for what you're actually getting.
I'd rather spend the money on a regularly priced production sportbike any day of the week. Same (sometimes BETTER) performance for a cheaper price.
That having been said: that Duc in the picture looks BAD ASS!!! I'd love to do that, again: IF I had the money to throw around. Nothing wrong with a show bike. That's what some people buy bikes to do with em.
How many show cars out there ALSO do 1/4 mile track days? Not many I would imagine. Same/same.
