took the bike out for the first time
A statement that helped me: : "There are two kinds of bikers: The kind that have been down, and, the kind that will go down."
I know bikers hate to hear it because it's a scary fact. I think it's one that kept me from ever going down. The first time I pulled the front wheel and got a "tankslapper" when I landed is quite a memorable moment.
Be carefull, don't get to cocky, and, yes the death grip get's better the more you ride.

i hope so cause the death grip is killing me again today after just 10 minutes of riding. its kind of a tease but when you dont have a license you cant always ride that much. does it count as going down if you room mate puts your kick stand up for ya with out you knowing and when you go to rest it back on the kick stand and it aint there ya almost let it fall. man i was so mad it him for doing that. but ohwell gotta learn to pay attention.
hey i was(still)a newbie, the "death grip" goes away, you said your freind put up your kick stand. well try almost droping the bike goin up the driveway your first time on a bike, shit happens to all of us thats how we learn. hope to see you out there when you get your license. One thing i have always noticed i always get a hand or wave from a fellow rider, its nice to know its not all cocky people riding to be the "hey im way faster then you are" people, but people out to have fun.
