Phase 4: The WRX lives again!!: T-Minus 3 weeks
I was able to get a great deal on it. Usually the motors are $5000, a reflash is around 600-700, and shipping is another 300ish. I got it down to $5,350 for it all.

I dont know about that, while I am impressed ben got of his ass and got a motor, your car with 200k plus miles ran in the 13's with a retarded 2nd gear...so im thinkin its a close tie for you guys.
Did you mean hypertunetic pistons? If so they aren't forged. Why have forged rods w/o forged pistons for the boost? What are the advantages of the motor over it's domestic counterpart?

The only advantage over the forged are they are lighter. They can hold all the power Ill ever need, and with good tuning (and no detonation) cast vs forged wont be an issue. This motor will be able to take 25+psi all day and love it, tune right of course. Also, the USDM motor, though has more torque due to displacement, is a comparatively poorly balanced motor. The JDM one is very well balanced, which is why it can spin to 8200rpms stock.

Read a book, people.

You couldnt even run 15psi with out "detonation". What makes you think getting cast pistons is your way out of the wrx flaws?
