i like powder coat dont get me wrong.. but i like the finish that my rims currently have with kind of a flake in them you know what i mean... you have to paint then in order to get that... also...

i have all the guns and equip to paint also... does anybody know a place that rents paint booths? by the hour? if i choose to paint them on my own ?

2 cans primer (krylon) 2 cans flat black (krylon) 1 can crystal clear (krylone)

and a pack of sandpaper...fine grit.

total cost $22. and they look as good as there ever gonna look.

1.) Sand the wheels down until they arent shiney anymore.
2.) Spray a coat of Primer on them.
3.) Sand them down some more until they are completely smooth.
4.) Primer them again.
5.) Spray them with the Black paint. (repeat 5-6 times).
6.) Spray them with Clear(repeat 5-6 times).

**Make sure that you tape off the rim around the tire....and if you dont want the center cap painted, then take it out.

Default like i said...

im not wanting to paint them with the tire on.
i want to take the tire off and spray the entire rims.. my worry comes from when the tire will be put back on... i dont want a scratch or peel on them.

Dude, powder coating is to expensive. Come to Taylors do it center, the one in providence square shopping center, and ask for Kelly. (thats me) I will show you the paint to use and will even give you my discount on the paint. Trust me, Iv'e done alot of wheels in the past year.
