U have to remember also everything is lower, the footpegs are lower too so they drag when u lean too much over. What kind of bike are your trying to get??

xmeeksx: Have you sat on a bike yet? Can you tippy toe on it? How much do you think you need to lower it? You should be able to get away with a drop linkage in the rear and sliding your forks up in the triple clamps a little bit.

How much do you have your bike lowered? How tall are you?
Yea it would be my first. You can lower the ride height on an sv650 by 4 inches. That seems a lot. I've read that it would be a miracle to get 2 inches on most bikes with a lowering kit. What are those straps for?

The straps mechanically compress the front suspension, typically for lowering a bike for drag racing. IMO its not a great way to do it, but if you must lower it more than you can adjust your suspension it will have to do.
If you still have trouble with sportbikes and don't mind trying out a cruiser, take a look at the 2005 Sportster 883L. They are specifically made for people that are short and can be easily upgraded for more performance.
the sv650s is a great cruiser i would go with it if you could lower it that much i how ever am 5'8 and my feet are completly flat on it and my knees are slightly bent so im thinking basicly 5'3 if you are able to drop it

i also wouldn't recommend using straps on the street, the suspension is going to be much stiffer, and you won't have full suspension travel so the risk of bottoming out is worse, you can bend wheels or forks, and lose traction over rough pavement, and you will blow fork seals easier too... also there is the chance of the strap popping off and unloading the suspension while your riding
