you slip it, usually to the 60' timers. you did it right when you see the boost gauge peg right after you get the clutch out.
if done right, you will spin the front tires a slight bit.
if done wrong, you will grenade first gear. but most stock cars wont do it unless HEAVILY abused. dumping it is the worst thing to do.

I broke 9's stock, so it's really unfortunate that you and your friend are trapping high 10's and 11's in a stock Jetta with the same powerplant. Weight difference is not enough to warrant the difference in times, so there are no excuses there.
But yes.. it's definitely a 1.8T if it's all stock. 2.0T is a MKV powerplant that you will be seeing a lot of soon.

i forgot to turn it off my 2nd run. before i got up to the line i did a little peel out, or tried, and relized that ASR was still on. glad i caught that be4 hand.
what did u run with it off?

yeah, i hear ya w/ the motor swaps. all that work just to get into low-mid 10's...not worth it IMO.
i know u did all that tranny work to ur car...what else is done to it?
