1987 Honda XL250R Overhaul -- Pics Galore --- Minimalist's Garage
my new rear turn signals came with the same male end bullet connector that he tail light has. Except the wires coming from the harness are cut straight off, as if with a knife. What method would you recommend for connecting these wires? I've read about a few online but couldn't tell ya which is ideal.
wait what? so the wires that go from the harness to the taillight are cut off?
well that's probably why your taillight doesn't work. I don't think you needed a new one after all.
pics of cut wires plz.

Rear turn signals, not brakelight. I didnt feel like taking another pic, but the TWO wires that run to each turn signal look like this at the end.
I just bought some M&F bullet connectors at advanced auto -- ill just attach the correct end to it and plug my tail lights up (they got the Male end). Also, I didnt konw what gauge wire I had, so i got the bullet connectors for sizes 14-16 and 16-22.
I'd solder them tbqh but a good crimp should work alright.
Brake light is on. Thanks for all the help gnarlycharlie.
My cheat sheet - for future reference:

Got the first one on:

Got 'em all connected (was simple)

Finished product:

This is the extent to which the brake light housing is fucked. Cleary it got hurt in the past. How would you recommend closing these gaps -- since theres lots of exposed wiring. Getting a new housing isn't an option -- they're discontinued and hard to find. Ideas?

The new brake light fixture came with two short screws to attach it to the housing. Since the face of my housing is so uneven and fucked up, i had to use the longer screws from the old fixture -- which are holding it in now (one visible on right in last pic)
Also: gnarlycharlie you can see the cut turn signal wires on the right hand side in teh second-to-last picture.

Got the turn signals installed and the bullet connectors on, but I think I may have gotten them for a larger gauge wire than I'm dealing with. Either that, or my vice grips failed to cirmp them on tightly enough. One came off without too much effort. I'm going to head back to the store tomorrow to get some smaller ones and maybe a better tool to crimp these together with
Anyways, here are the pics:
1)Stripped the ends of all the wires

2) Attached female bullet connectors

3) Installed turn signal and lined up wires

4) Connect (didnt actually connect them, due to wrong size connectors -- but wanted to test it out

5) Finished product -- or soon to be, once I get the right size tomorrow

Thanks again gnarly.
