Religion is dumb and deserves no respect for all the horrid things it has caused over the centuries. The world would be a better place without any kind of organized religion.

religion also does great things. A lot of disputes against religion have brought about great scientific finds. Buddhist monks kept many records of history. Even today many christian organizations operate local, national and international help organizations where they dont even preach. They are there to assist in helping the problem. not preach.

many religious followers are indeed hypocrites at the core, but anger and malice isnt something that anywhere near helps the problem.

There is truth when people say that religion is corrupted by man, but it's why I read and interpret the Bible for myself. It's like learning anything in life, say like how to wrench on your ride. You can read how other people do it on forums or you can read the service manual yourself. Maybe take a combination of the two.

In the past people needed spiritual leaders to read the Bible to them because they were uneducated; couldn't read. And this opens the door to corruption. The reason we need preachers/pastors today is because are people too lazy to read the Bibles for themselves, but the issue of corruption is still there.

And a lot of people may claim to lead righteous Christian lives, but are pedophiles, porn addicts, adulterers, thieves, rapist, murders, etc.
Doesn't mean they don't believe in Christ... just means they have problems following Christs example.

At best this means they're (and when I say they, I also mean myself) weak, human. But even if they weren't Christians they would still be pedophiles, porn addicts, adulterers, thieves, rapist, murders, etc.
