To the kid with the 400hp 240.

as i raised the boost to check the tune, as soon as torque peak hit at 6k it would slap the rev limiter. So i tried a pull in 4th gear, same thing. Used the dyno data to compare rpm vs dyno speed. slipping clutch.
anything above 19psi~~400rwhp it would slip the clutch. I tried a pull at 23 and no matter what i did to try to lower the amount of torque at torque peak the clutch wouldnt hold.

KA-T? If so, and it still has the stock transmission, it's only good for up to 400hp. So that sounds about right...

i checked the tune made by gray when courtney owned the car, the owners complaints when he arrived were that the car was running funny.
turned out the car had a dented intercooler piping from vermon or road debris, and the vac/boost line for the BOV and FPR were not connected/had blown off. On the dyno up at higher boost levels, some lines were poping off so i zip tied em tight.
i made no adjustments to timing, and very small adjustments to the fuel.
i forsee 420-430 @23psi with a good clutch, and the piping fixed. the head setup is out of rpms....the stock springs/retainers cannot hold the valves shut anything above 7500rpm. I've broken several rocker arms going to about 7600 and the owner has my old motor and cam setup.
get some JWT C1's with some springs and retainers, set the rev limiter to 8k and i forsee 500rwhp.

stock trannies will hold upto about 500. i raced my setup at 460rwhp for a couple passes with no problems. motor blew, then used the same tranny for the next 2 seasons at 400rwhp pulling 1.6's to 1.4's in the 60. even before the 460rwhp setup i was racing on that tranny with 320rwhp for 2 seasons.
its the launches that break the input/output shafts. If people got a soft clutch, not a 4 puck double sprung diaphram......everyone would be ok.

sr and ka trannies are internally the same. gearing and all. only the sr has different synchros.
i just put a ka tranny rear section on an SR20 bellhousing. the customers motor that came in had a locked up SR tranny, we had 2 ka trannies laying around so i worked my magic.
