I've been saying it for a while too. The Japanese crowd started doing the stretch thing when drifting got big. Everybody wanted the "drift" look. Drifting is going to fade away and people will make their cars look like a caricature of some other form of performance setup. Non-staggered, wide tires will become the new thing.
VW guys will probably continue to poke and stretch as they do it for different reasons.

Is it just me or are (most) not ALL V-dubs considered DOPE with a fresh detail, nice back drop for photo, fenders rolled, madtyteexpensive authentic stretched wheels, and coilovers/airbags.???
