Have you ever seen someone driving a completely gutted M3 at the track? "Free modding" such as this makes these a lot faster because of all the worthless bullshit thats in them. I've driven a few e46 M3's, driving one without all the fancy bullshit (interior/speakers everywhere/climate controlwtf? etc.) is very different. It was VERY noticeable.

Note: I'm not trying to be an asshole with this arguement, just pointing something out.

Yeah I definitely won't argue with that. But why buy a M3 then gut everything that arguably made it a 47k car in the first place?

Most likely because on top of performance, there's luxury. I don't think you'd need that luxury at the track.

I'm talking about a track specific car. Hell, his 2 sparco s-lights cost about the same as my old ass BMW, I don't think money is really an issue to him lol.

Obviously, but why get the car if you strip out everything that makes it a M3? To me the M3 is the quintessential sport/luxo...take out the luxo part and I can think of better cars for the money. Unless you're just balla-style like that and can buy 47k cars and rip out 15k worth of crap and throw it in the garage.

I don't think you reall could beat it for the money... When you throw out all of that garbage the car still cost the same amount, whereas its shed a few hundred lbs.

You're not stripping out what makes it a M3, you're stripping out the BMW luxury. Leather bucket seats with warmers make it a BMW. It's performance makes it a M3.

No I meant for less than 47k you could get a better a better performance car that doesn't have leather heated seats and 6-speaker sound system. What makes the car so expensive is that is has that performance plus all that crap. Otherwise it would probably be a 35-40k car.

if you say so bud. It's a pretty solid platform. Even the watered down USDM version is make 330 hp out of a N/A straight six. Sounds like a pretty nice motor to me.
