anybody have anything to say about wheelin a carbed engine in the mountains? i have a lead on a carbed 302, kinda neat cause id get to rip out half my wires and not have to worry about half the shit anymore. plus id have to goto picknpull and find mustang intakes and wiring to do an efi obd1 setup.
(c4 + 5.13 + 37s = still gonna be 3200rpm at 70mph on 64) = not over 15mpg highway haha
im definitely looking into it. stock 302 from a 74/75 bronco. needs a carb, but it runs(saw a video). and i think the c4 is from a 71 bronco, cant remember for sure

Currie Steering setup is on it's way. I swear I'm done modding the DD Jeep
Every time I say no, I find something that needs to be replaced on it, instead of buying things for the project Jeep.
But it is a upgrade I needed since 35's and stock steering don't work well on the trails together.
So far this year I've installed:
sye and cv driveshaft
mounted my hi-lift to the rollbar
rear tire carrier with a bfg mt 35x12.50 on matching soft 8 wheel
rear locker
currie steering
re front upper arms (haven't decided if I'm running these, I'd rather sell those upper arms and a a set of lowers I have in the garage to fund some adjustable front uppers so I can fine tune my caster angle)

Well, yesterday absolutely fucking sucked... I've had a ujoint cap seized on the rear driveshaft for a while that I've fought with several times and couldn't get out. It was making even worse noises yesterday, so I climbed back underneath with a determination to get the damn thing out. One of the bolts on the straps was rounded, which didn't help save me any time. After I finally got the shaft out, I used the hammer and socket technique and still couldn't get the ujoint out. I tried everything I could, and my bench vice doesn't open up enough to accept a socket AND the driveshaft, so I took the driveshaft to a local shop to see if they'd press it out for me. I ended up going to get a ujoint for the front yoke for them to press in as well. An hour and a half later and they said I could come back and pick it up...
So I got it back home, put it back together, and took it for a test drive. Everything was fine. I probably put more than 50 miles on it and it felt great. Not as sloppy or clunky as it was before, and no noises...... then all of the sudden riding back to town from the lake with a truck on my ass I start getting horrible vibrations. I slowed down to try to get off the road, but before I could get in the grass I heard a horrible sound like something exploded. I got my flashlight out and crawled underneath only to find the driveshaft dangling by the yoke in the front. The weird thing is that the straps were still connected, and both straps appeared to still have the bearing caps in them. I don't know if I messed up somewhere along with the install, or if the ujoint was just bad and failed. Any thoughts on this topic?
Also, as it was my first time pulling my driveshaft, you just push the front yoke back over the gear from the transfer case, right? Exactly the opposite as removing it? Should I take the boot off next time?

Did you get a laugh at the size comparison of the front vs rear drive shafts? I crack up every time I'm underneath a Wrangler...
My ass was saved by JB Weld this weekend. I was DEEP in the sticks the other day playing around with a few of my buddies, not sure if I bounced off something hard or what but my transfer case cracked right at the drain plug. Basically a 3" gash from the drain plug itself down towards the bottom of the case. Apparently its a popular issue (says Google) with this particular model BorgWarner. Anyways, first time using this stuff, I have never heard any good things about it, but it sure saved my ass. All I could do was wipe it down with paper towels and hit it will a little bit of sandpaper.. don't make fun of my 'welds', I was laying in mud to do it.

I have used JB weld a number of times- not bad stuff as long as you don't mind ho wit looks, IMO.
