G8 Owners / LS builders

Re: G8 Owners / LS builders
If you're balking at paying $369 for a proper tune, you shouldn't be modifying LS engines. I know some shops will do a free or discounted tune if you've already bought a full price tune there and are just doing some minor supporting mods, but $369 for a comprehensive tune for a new cam is not huge if it's more than a few dyno pulls and some really basic tweaking.
If you've already got tuned at VMS, have you actually asked them how much to retune for an existing tuning customer, or are you just blindly going off of a price list somewhere?
I know it been said many times, but spending a bunch of time and money on modifications and then cheaping out on the tune is a rediculous mindset to have.

Re: G8 Owners / LS builders
As far as cam selection goes I would highly suggest Pat G, Rick Crawford, or Brian Tooley cams, also Josh @ Horsepower Solutions can spec you 1. When choosing heads just mill .030-.035 off the factory set and have them ported and polished. Best bang for you buck unless you just wanna leave them stock.
Josh also tuned my car and it runs great! No issues at all in hot or cold weather. I would recommend him to anyone plus he has his own build G8....
Just for an idea Josh tuned my car as I said and I laid down 402/382 with Doug Thorley Tri Y long tubes, Vararam Intake, LS7 MAF, Brian Tooley stage 1 LS3 cam, and milled heads. Sounds nasty and runs great. Still getting 17/18 city and 23/25 highway

Re: G8 Owners / LS builders
I've got an LS1 that's going in the Z this winter with custom Kooks' headers and a full 3" exhaust. Trying to decide what I do or don't want to do in terms of a cam swap, heads, or anything else before throwing it in there. I may just throw the fucker in there and worry about upgrades later but I definitely have some research to do on this thing either way.
