so bad gas mileage, less than par acceleration/speed, complete unreliability, but great handling.

That was my experience with it. But like I said my neighbor across the street has one and says he's never had any problems. His is also one of the neutered automatics because he's a fag and can't drive a manual.

For the engine to make power, you want to keep the heat in the chamber and the charge air. Thus heat that is transferred to the cooling system is a "leak" in that it is an unwanted flow. Since a lot of heat transfers from the chamber into the coolant, there's a lot of heat to get rid of in the coolant... This means the car needs a bigger radiator and better coolng airflow than a piston engine of equivalent power.

close friend of mine has one and to be honest with you i really didnt think much of the car untill i drove it, and damn it was amazing. really nice car, well put together imo

id say insurance an maintenance would be cheaper on a rx8 then a porsche 911 :P
