i love it in power vtec's car.

 

VTEC eats my gas like a fat kid eats cake! I just got my motor so i hit it whenever i get the chance. I think im gettin like 20-25 mpg. But yeah VTEC is not over rated ive seen cars that break the tires loose when VTEC kicks in!

 

thats because vtec is for passing power and such, youre not supposed to ride around in vtec all the time.

vtec is a cool concept, but some people act like it makes their car faster. think about it this way, if you just used the more aggresive cam, you would have the power *increase* through-out your whole rpm range, but they wanted to keep it economical and save gas. Im not bashing it at all. i think its borderline brilliant, but it doesnt make the car faster, thats how fast the car is supposed to be. out of vtec is kinda like resting, when ya dont need the power. i think its great concept. but some people act like it makes them faster than everybody else.
btw, Ferrari has a really cool system for vvt, anybody know what im talkin about. i dont know if any of the other companies do the same as them.

 

Actually, you are dead wrong. VTEC is designed to make the most power everywhere, not to be gas economical. If you only had the vtec lobe profile, you would have LESS power down low, and if you only had the off vtec profile, you would lose a lot of power at the top end. That's why people who tune their cars for maximum performance still have a vtec crossover point. If what you said was true, they would trick the car into using the vtec profile all the time, but you are wrong.

VTEC was originally created by the porsche engineers, then sold to honda when they decided it was much easier to just use turbos...

VTEC = i'm tired of hearing about it.
