so basically
lazy people get an sr20
if you know how to use a search engine and arent afraid to use it, you can get a CA

If you want to have more than a few sources for your parts, you get the SR.
A friend is currently building a CA to swap into his S13. Got the motor, tranny, turbo and an extra head and a clutch all for $450. He has a little bit of money in it and needs a couple more things before it goes in but nowhere near the cost of an SR.
wow htf did i miss this thread...anyway...aftermarket support is just fine for this motor...anything u need u can find..if u want to find it...all the shops that sell sr parts can get u ca parts....its not that hard really...but i like teh fact taht no one knows bout this motor....i just like being a little diff...which is the whole reason i chose this instead of its other brethren
caz needs to hurry up and get taht thing on the road lol
ca'z own (when yer oil pump isnt wasted

all the parts tim said are hard to find are because aftermarket support has pretty much stopped as far as NEW items...so alot of stuff is new OLD stock and/or used...so that does suck...but parts are still abundant...especially for the amount of ca owners in the US...
so i guess ill eat my own words and say aftermarket support isnt the greatest...but ive never had a problem finding anything i want, be it cams, intake manifolds, turbo, fuel/enginemangement etc.. now exhaust manifold support is NILL tho

seems like the ca18det is a decent motor. i havent seen many around here. mainly sr's. i do agree tho, sr20's are like b16 civics now-a-days.

as for the 2.4 liter vs. 2.0/1.8 liter potential- the answer in this case is NOT NECESSARILY. the ka has a lot of engineering flaws that aren't readily apparent that prevent it from becoming a top-level performer in most cases. just to name a few, in the case with turbocharging, you reach the limit on the stock internals real quick, (240 whp just isn't enough for most people). for na purposes, the head flow and design is fairly restrictive (especially for the single cam), and the engine suffers from a long stroke that prevent it from reaching high engine revs. of course there are ways around these problems, but overall the displacement alone is not nearly enough to overweigh the potential of the ca or sr, which imo were just designed with a more performance-oriented strategy from the start. but that's just me. greaser will get on here and give you details, and the ka is developing more and more of a following it seems.
