there is not law against the steering wheel or airbag disablement in VA. the only thing is you cant have a wheel smaller then 13" if i recall, i gotta check that at work. it wont pass inspection with an airbag light on, but if the system is disabled, it will pass according to the way the new book is written.

its a FEDERAL law if you tamper with a safety restraint system though.

That's interesting.

I remember a guy on here a few years ago complaining about a ticket he got in VB, or maybe Chesapeake, for no airbag because he had installed a game system in his dash where the passenger airbag was once located. Is it a new law? Was that guy lying? Was the officer a total ass?

they probly issued him a ticket for having a screen mounted about four years ago, there was a BIG push to make it illegal to have an indash screen mounted in the wheel or airbag holes (which i partially agreed on) and West Coast Customs got in a big suit over it, i dont know of the final outcome.

it is possible for an officer to give you a ticket for it though i reckon, i will have to check in the book and see (VA motor code)

driving and TV are two things that shouldnt be done at the same time though of course, for kids, its fucking great to make them shut up on a trip.

ha...damn, i was just checking the code for reference, and they changed it in the new manual but didnt issue a notice for it.

according to the SI manual, page 290-4, VA code 46.2-1092 and 46.2-1093:
blahblahblah
NOTE: reject the vehicle if the air bag readiness light stays on continuously or flashes.

EXCEPTION: DO NOT reject if the airbag has been deployed or removed, provided the air bag warning light has been disabled

but, that still dont mean you can have your bag removed due to federal law though. it just means that you will pass inspection if you do have one pulled.

yank it and say fuck it.

I think it was the actual game console...not a screen...I could be wrong though...and thanks for checking on it. I don't have an airbag, and I removed the light b/c I was tired of looking at it, so it's good to know I can pass inspection, and bring up the section that proves it.

You rock!
