show me a good area in 757 (and suffolk doesnt count)where i can buy a single family home , again, in a nice area, for $170K...with a single car garage.

look in hampton... Todds lane/Orcutt, Northhampton neighborhoods... i know a few people back there who have bought 2-3 bed. homes for around 100K nice older places,

I don't know about the peninsula, but there are several places in Norfolk and Va Beach. Hell, my house was $140k.
Also, you can't overlook foreclosures.
