Your Opinion on the Future of US Automakers

You said Chrysler and Dodge being the same thing, yes but look at the money being spent towards dodge rather than Chrysler. You see more exciting things from dodge where from chrysler you get a revamped Mercedes and a convertable Pt.... yippy.
As far as GM and Ford, you are right, they are trying to bring every kind of style into each make. For example, the saturn sky, very nice and attractive and cheap.. but still since when did Saturn start to make a 2 door convertable. Same goes with the Solstice... ugly and yet a Pontiac. Cadillac like you also said needs to stay with it's style and luxury.
But you made some very well points though!

And Europe has praised the Ford Focus/mondeo line ever since its debut.

Ok, but why are they not the #1 auto seller in Canada, and Mexico, and the other South American nations? You would think with the North American Free Trade Agreement, they should easily be able to dominate these markets. But they are not. They are barely selling ahead in their home markets. Its a sad state of affairs, but as long as other nations have workers who are making 5% of what the average american worker makes our manufacturers will never be able to compete. I think the United States will not so gradually lose just about all ground in manufacturing work, not just in auto making, but in just about every type of manufacturing. We need to smarten up, because pretty soon the only thing we will have left to sell is ideas.

I would say that over all sales, is far more important then the sales of one particular vehicle.
Thats alot!
