Me and my freinds have had so many arguments over this crap when we were all done the result was power for a honda = turbo. reliability and deacent power =supercharger. if you are broke and scraping to buy forced induction you better go supercharger. endo story

Why does everyone say that turbo setups aren't reliable? What are people doing that's so wrong that makes them say that? I think you have to try hard to have turbo related problems, unless you're taking sketchy used parts of of other cars with high mileage, etc., and then trying to push them over the limit of what the parts are capable of. The only reliability problems you'll have is if it's installed stupidly, just like anything else. I don't buy into the "superchargers are more reliable" argument.

As long as you tune conservatively and use good parts a turbo won't be any more unreliable than a supercharger.

That's because people don't know how to size a turbo to their engine. They go for the biggest turbo they can find and then complain about lag. This really annoys me for some reason, so don't get me started.

I've put a supercharged motor into my fiero (3800). If you do the job right the first time, both are just as easy to install. Superchargers will tend to be a little more of an expensive endeavor. Superchargers give you instantaneous response where as turbos take a second or two to spool. That being said, provided you don't have a rediculously oversized turbo, it doesn't take a huge amount of time to spool. Also on a note, superchargers are MUCH less efficient, plain and simple. Any 3800 Person can attest to this. The Eaton M90 that comes on our motors with a 3.4" Pulley are good for 280HP. Replace the SC with a custom manifold and a Turbo, you're good for 350HP on the same boost. Theres just more of a parasitic loss on mechanically spinnging the supercharger. . .

Even being biased to superchargers for your application I vote turbo.
