trying to crank no compression
absolutely, YOU NEED TO CHECK ALL TIMING MARKS for synchronization. if your cam marks line up and your crank timing mark is off, that is prolly the problem. there should be a white and a red mark on the crank. if i remember right white is tdc and stock timing and red is retarded a bit. it may be the other way around i cant remember. definitely check that.
well the crank is in the right place when i put the pulley on you have to line it up to put the key in and then i turned it till the first piston was at the top and when the piston was all the way up the 2 arrows on the cam gear were both facing up
either timing or burent valves
maybe even a cracked valve, had 2 in my d15 and i got 0 compression because of it
though a new head gasket is around 30 and you need a torgue wrench to tighten down the bolts if you have all the timing marks lines up and the pulley lined up and its still not getting you anywhere i suggets pulling off the head and checking to see if the valves are tannish brown,if they are you got scammed

on your crank pully, line up the single line, not the threes lines, with your timing marks. Then make sure the up arrows are up on the cam gears, and make sure the dashs line up with each other and the top of the head.
