Well now you all have me curious about this stuff. I knew about the gentlemens agreement, and I've had an indicated 187 and still know its either not really going that fast or that the acceleration to higher speeds stopped there (yes Skr00z, i'm an idiot, but i do it in the HOV during the "not so busy" hours).

Now, since i thought it was electronically limited via the ECU, i thought by getting a PCIII and having the bike tuned, you can bypass the limiter? Is there no real way of getting around the limiter? I know some might not agree with riding that fast on the street, but I've wanted to do track for some time now, and that is a huge monetary investment, unless someone here can hook me up with all the fixins at an unbelievable price?

I've got till May 15 to get my license back, and between now and then i plan on doing the mods. I haven't changed anything on the bike except for the GTYR slips (im perfectly content with the stock header). I want more torque while not sacrificing any top end, as a matter of fact I want more top end and torque. What should my gearing setup be? Gonna do the 520, but i need to help in choosing sprocket gears.

I guess before you answer me latter question, i guess answering the first would be good. Sorry if it seems i'm jackin this thread.

i can't speak for your R1 but usually a power commander won't have any effect on a speed limiter that i'm aware of, and a quick search on the web doesn't turn up any derestricter devices like they have for suzuki and kawasaki, a yamaha racing ecu would remove it but thats total overkill and might not support some of the bike's street functions like fuel gauge or lights, possibly... and even on vir's full course i don't think you'd be hitting the limiter on your R1 anyways, and if you did it would probably just serve as a nice reminder that you are about to enter turn one 100 mph too fast
