a car wash is one thing, detailing is completely different.

Ok ok i know i went about this all the wrong way. In order to get my stuff legit what do i need to do as far as business liscence, insurance incase anything happens. I know i came off as a dick because i allready thought i knew what i was doing but i was wrong.

Im dead serious about the detailing shop/car custom shop. I have taken the interior out of my jetta and sprayed most of the stuff with black cloth vinyl spray so im gonna see how that works out. Im also doing a front end swap with a golf i will see how that goes. I have been hooking up systems up for the longest time im just lookin for help. sorry about all the negativity

You remind me of Malibu's Most Wanted when they were trying to get him to stop talking like he was black, and when he finally did he sounded just like your post. Anyway, you might be better off getting with a more established shop or something for a little while and learning the ropes of running a business instead of just diving into it. It doesn't matter how good you are at what you do, if you have zero business skills than you're gonna fail, period.

[QUOTE=Gaius Caligula;3167919]
read how some of the other Vendors have done it in the correct forum. This is particularly pertaining to spelling, punctuation and proper grammar.
QUOTE]

I have been working at a detail shop/lube for 3 years and will do side jobs if the price is right.

On the other side of things... grab your phone book and look up the virginia department of business assisatnce and they should be able to get you on the right track... second pick up your phone again and call up your insurance company and get a quote for they type of work you will be doing... and third, see if you have the money to start your shop right now and if it fails will you have the means to pay off any debt/seed money. Just what i would do.

For your chemicals you could go for store bought stuff.. or you could do a little more research and use commercial chemicals... like zep or Car brite. Store bought stuff is ok for the regular joe at home trying to keep his car clean but there is alot more potent, easier to use stuff sold to the commercial guys. Trust me.

To the other posters talking about detailing and car washes not being the same. Thanks. Now I don't have to go kill myself because I know there are people out there that know they are not the same. I have to deal with people almost every day that want a 'detail'. Then after explaining to each of them what is included they tell me they just wanted it washed.
