As someone who owns a tC, take it off your list... they don't come close to comparing to a STI or EVO... and trust me, to get it even close to competing to one of those 2, your gonna spend alot more than $7k, and whoever told you the bottom end could hold alot is full of shit. You'd be pushing the limit anywhere near 300.

I agree with the above. Id be alot more intimidated by a modified EVO or STi flying up on me than a Scion with its TRD blower and intake/exhaust/chip. Plus AWD = awesome launches and handling.

I say that as far as bang for your buck the tc would be the best option. My tc already has all the exterior work done to it already and with $7000 of invested money to make it a faster car you can't beat the deal of buying my tc. Not only will car than turn heads but you also can smoke cars. Everyone in here talks about all these performance mods done to their car but lets be real honest, the only time you get attention is if you stop your car and people look under your hood. And even when you do get that attention you are really only get it from younger men only. A car with major mods done to the exterior get you so much more attention while you're driving and you get attention from everyone(especially if you add all that unnecessary speed) such as WOMEN. So lets be real for an affordable nice custom car you can't beat the scion tc. If you are comparing a same year vehicle.

i only read the original post so please dont flame me if this has already been answered.

all of your cars have one thing in common, theyre japanese. they dont have the same drivetrains, same platforms, or anything of the like.

you stated that you want a car easily able to get into the 12's, be turbo charged, and be a reliable daily driver. why not an MR2??? I can show you proof of at least 100 MR2's that run 12.5 or faster with nothing but bolt ons and stock ecu and fueling. hell my car run's an 11.6 on radials and cam2 and it only has bolt ons. they aren't cheap to modify, but each modification goes a very long way. if you were to buy a bone stock mr2t, you could spend less than $1k in upgrades and be in the 12's. and still be extremely reliable!!!!

edit:after reading some of the later posts, mr drivetrain FTW on launches and handling!!! TRD superchargers do suck the big hairy one, and i have yet to see any subaru or mitsubishi walk me down and i have less than $20k in my car(including the cost of the car). best bang for the buck is definately the MR2
