Re: got the mustang moving
When are you leaving? Im short on cash after fixing my honda and getting the new transmission for the stang so I'm not sure when I'll have her on the road.
Thats why I was asking if anyone knew about how much it would cost me all together. Hell, once shes legal depending on how much I like the automatic, I probably wont keep her too much longer. I wouldnt mind a 87+ EFI 5.0. Gotta have that v8 in my life yo.

83Stang5.8,
I did this about 6 years ago for a '51 Chevy, and it was no big deal at all. I'm not sure how much the process has changed, (I heard they were making it harder to get the tags as every toad with an '80 caprice or LTD runs them now) but I just went in with my title, insurance, and form filled out, paid for the tags and left with them in my hand. I can't remember exactly how much they were, but less than $100.
Yes, insurance is definitely required. I had an "antique" insurance policy from my insurer at the time. It was kind of a joke, because the truck could not have been replaced for what they insured it for, but it was better than nothing.
Short version: Just go in with everything in hand, ready to do business. If they smell something not right, or you don't have a t crossed, you know how those harpies at the DMV can get.

Depending on who your full coverage policy on your DD is with, they may have an "antique" rider/policy (correct me if i'm wrong insurance guys, I know there are some on here ) That will be fairly inexpensive, depending on what you estimate the value of your antique to be. It wasn't bad for me, but I'm old, and my antique wasn't a mustang
