Nice edit, tard.

Let's see how much I can remember

Yes, being illegal does in fact make it a bad idea.

You thinking the insurance company should care about the fact that the speed limit was raised in the area that you recieved a ticket is possibly the most retarded argument I've ever heard.

In most cases if you're only doing 10 over the limit, you don't need a radar detector, and anything faster can easily be classified as "driving like an idiot". I doubt that most of the folks running detectors use them so they can drive 10 over without worrying.

Feel sorry for them all you want, but when you make a concious decision to ignore a law, you then have to deal with the consequences. No, I'm not a saint, I don't have a front plate, I have tint, and I have have recieved my share of speeding tickets. But when/if I'm ticketed for these things, I don't bitch about it on a forum, I pay my fine and get on with my life.

I'm with you on not driving like an idiot, and $400 will cover the fine but will not begin to cover the insurance increase you'll pay for years to come.

Ahhh, I love point-by-point discussions, and I'm glad my post had such an impact on your daily life you actually memorized the major points of it. So lets revisit shall we:

Yes, being illegal does in fact make it a bad idea.
Having sex with one foot on the ground is against the law. Somehow, I feel this is a great idea. You're seriously saying that you believe everything written as "law" is a good idea? You must think Bush is the greatest thing since sliced bread too, huh?

You thinking the insurance company should care about the fact that the speed limit was raised in the area that you recieved a ticket is possibly the most retarded argument I've ever heard.
i before e except after c... remember that. Anyway, I never said they SHOULD care, it was merely a point to say that while speed limits are all posted and should be obeyed, not obeying them does not mean you are "driving like an idiot." My case in point was that while I was driving at a comfortable speed for myself, it didn't match what was on the sign. The sign now matches what I deemed comfortable, and I merely side-pointed that my insurance company doesn't care about that fact simply because I'm up for renewal right now, and it is unfortunate (but 100% my fault) that my ticket is coming back to haunt my 6-month premium, especially when the Commonwealth of Virginia now says my driving habit at the moment was safe. Therefore, I surmise I was not driving like an idiot.

In most cases if you're only doing 10 over the limit, you don't need a radar detector, and anything faster can easily be classified as "driving like an idiot". I doubt that most of the folks running detectors use them so they can drive 10 over without worrying.
I would agree, except some of those Barney Fife types in Albermarle and Henrico seem to operate by the "5 your fine, 9 your mine" principal. I don't run 65 down route 360 anymore simply because I don't want to deal with a power-tripping police officer on a bad day. I'd feel a lot more comfortable doing 65 with a radar detector so I wouldn't have to worry about a $125 ticket for driving normally. People that ride 110 mph down I-95 and think a radar detector is going to save them are going to get caught anyway as a police officer can see a 40+ MPH difference in speed well before a radar detector is going to lock onto a vehicle. Idiots are screwed with or without the detector... "normal" people that feel the speed limits set for cars built in 1985 are a little conservative for a car built this millennium can ride less nervous (read that as: less erratic) with a radar detector.

Refute this all you want, to each their own. It seems to me that if only one commonwealth and a district (read: Virginia & Washington DC) make something illegal, but 48 other states and a commonwealth have it as legal (yes, Florida is looking at banning them as well, boohoo), the minority may have it's priorities out of whack.

Summary: Nobody's bitching about receiving tickets, OP and following users were asking for clarifications on fines, laws, and prepayment options, and bad360rt seems to have some sort of infatuation with the words that I type. Awesome.

alright, i've got a question about the spectre or w/e

heres the scenario: your with a big group of people on the highway, and you have a radar running. your the one that gets pulled over at random and say you take it out of the window way before you get pulled over, how does the cop single you out from the other cars around you?
