For lunch, Fork in the Alley on Crystal Spring Avenue (pizza, burgers, dogs; eat outside), Ben Gui Sushi in Old Country Plaza on Starkey Road (Japanese), and Alejandro's Mexican Grill downtown (good, inexpensive real Mexican food, crowded at lunch). Fast food, I go to Zaxby's. Healthy stuff, I go to Ukrops. For something different me and the guys at the office go to the Pancake House on Williamson (although walking in wearing a tie always makes me feel a little weird.)

I baked desserts at WildFlour for a while. All of their food is pretty good and most is healthy as well; I like to eat there.

I have to say that my pick for favorite lunch spot would go to Montano's. The key to eating out is perceived value. You won't spend any more at Montano's for lunch than you will at Brambleton Deli, Wildflour, Quizno's, etc, but it is a much nicer atmosphere and seems like you eating more than a $7 meal. Not to mention they have a great prime rib sandwich.

Zaxby's opened last Fall out on Hershberger/Ordway between Channel News office and Home Depot; sort of behind the EZN Food Mart station. I usually hit when I go to Sportsmans Warehouse to buy gun stuff. I think one just opened in Salem too on West Main near Fast Freddy's.

The "brazilian restaurant" is Carlos - probably my favorite restaurant in Roanoke - and it can be pricey.

at least two years ago, there is one off of Peters Creek as you go into Home Depot/WDBJ7 entrance.

I like Thai food. Too bad there isn't any around. We have two "Thai restaurants" in the area (and I use the term very loosely) but their food leaves a lot to be desired...
