It CAN be done, but I don't think anybody in this area does it. TireVan in the DC area does some of the best work, and they have a truck with a mounter and balancer in it and just drive out to you and do it in a quiet street or parking lot. That said, a bad tire shop will do a bad job no matter what the facilities. I wouldn't go to any place that doesn't use a GSP9700 balancer, especially if the tires have an aspect ratio of 40 or below.
We have the Hunter machines at all of our Checkered Flag locations. If you don't mind the drive, set up an appointment with Checkered Flag Porsche.

My only experience with Checkered Flag is seeing photos and reading the report from my fellow Virginia Chapter MBCA members trip to your Smart facility (at 23, I'm a bit younger than the average member, and did not attend).
Do you guys have the 2 piece Mercedes wheel weights? I know you guys don't sell MB, but BMW uses them too, and I think even BMW sources them from MB. So far the only place I've found that has them is Auto Haus in Yorktown, but they charge $125 to mount and balance 4 tires (I'm hoping you guys charge less?).

i had to replace a wheel stud when i got my wheels balanced at a merchants. sometimes i wonder how these places are still in business.
the next time i need to have wheels balanced im going to a more reputable shop

Actually, it looks like the write up I read was done by Checkered Flag, not the MBCA members. All the MBCA members wrote is that they went and then posted some photos
