It's been a few years since I did any thermodynamics, but doesn't compressing the air in a constant volume of space increase the temperature? They don't "even out" the temperatures, but between heat from the turbo spinning (air picks up some as it goes through), heat from having to go through more pipes before reaching the engine (the air has to travel at least twice as much distance, thus has more time to absorb engine heat), and heat from higher compression the air isn't going into the engine at much of a different temperature. I think in cold temperatures the FI folks will get a bit more power increase than the NA, but not as much as you're implying.
