Knock on wood- 4 years now with no plate on the Z/28 and haven't been pulled for not having one. Then again, I don't drive like an asshat on public streets.

I was just thinking that as I was reading it.

I ran the Eclipse without a front plate for about 4 years. Got 3 tickets in that time and let off maybe 2x (cause I didn't have the holes drilled, good excuse but doesn't always work). I remember one of the tickets... I was driving in King William (BFE) on a 2 lane road where the speed limit is 55mph. I had at least 3 cars in front of me and 3 more behind me. I was cruising 60mph and had a guy in front of me going about 70mph, most of the others were going 65mph. I passed a trooper head-on and saw him turn around. I got excited thinking he was going to nail the guy behind me that had to be speeding like a mofo. No... that SOB turned around and passed 3 cars to get to me, to give me a ticket for a front plate. I'm still mindfucked that he did that. He had to be hitting at least 75-80mph to pass those 3 cars, all to give me a ticket for the plate.

I never really cared about them as they only cost me about $30 each time. I figured if I paid $30 every 2 years then it was worth it. After the economy went to shit the courts have been raping people for anything they can though. I ended up paying $82 for the last front plate ticket I got ($32 for the fine, $50 for "processing cost").

When I got the STi I figured I'd get enough harassment, so I put the front plate on. That's also part of why my plate says "WNA DNUT". If I gotta have a front plate, at least it says "fuck you".

you're just telling them "hey look at my missing front tag". You're best off leaving it at home. If you don't want to run a front plate, you need to make sure it looks like nothing is missing. That will usually keep you safe. But if anything is there as a clue something is missing, like a space for it, or empty bracket, you'll get a ticket from every officer that you pass by.

Or just find a way to attract tons of attention away from the missing front plate...

haven't had a front plate in 4 years, and i've only been pulled for it once. don't have a bracket or bolt holes on my front bumper, and no plate in the window. this is mostly in henrico though, i understand chesterfield is worse about it.

I have always had my front plate on the proper location, and never gotten a ticket. Shit works.

objects on top of your front dash and the area below your back window become projectiles in collisions. No one wants to get in a wreck but the inevitable will happen one day and you can be scalped or decapitated due to a plate or something else being in those areas. Don't be a dipshit mount the plate to the bumper
