All the merk trashing, and then these people that are just popping up with merkur's that have no merkur roots. That are just goin to throw a BOV and a greddy intercooler on it and then put "better forged" internals in them. If you have a merkur, build it like a merkur. Its not a bmw, its not a porsche, its the low pos line of europe which the americans were stupid enough to bring over here. They deresve to have zip ties and shoe laces holding them together.


Not to start a war, just my whole merkur extravaganza I am goin through is really pissing me off right now. I cant for the love of god find even a piece of shit merk for sale. And then all these people are just popping them out of there assholes like its a honda.

Actually...the guy I got it from has been a friend of mine for quite a few years. He's spent time studying engineering at Oxford university and is now living in Richmond, where he's originally from, trying to finish his degree up at VCU due to financial limitations. He's part owner of Delta V Motorsports. They originally bought the car with the intent of turning it into a rally car, but have since picked up a WRX to run instead. They actually finished 3rd in the rally they went to in Canada 2 weeks ago. He's probably forgotten more about these cars, and turbo cars in general, than you'll ever know.

Now then...I'm not sure if you're referring to me as "all these people popping up with Merkurs that have no Merkur roots," and pardon me if I'm taking you the wrong way, but who are you to come in here and act all holier than thou just because you've owned one for a while? Feel free to dig up old posts and you'll see who was there DEFENDING you and your car when everyone else was giving you so much shit about it. You see, I've been a fan of these cars since you were about 12 years old. It just so happens that I was also raised as a drag racer and you know damn well the IRS in the rear of the Merkur isn't exactly ideal for drag racing, so I'd rather have the motor in something that will be able to consistently put the power down. At any rate, good luck on finding another one. They're out there, but they really seem to be one of those cars that you just have to know someone to run into.

Sorry, I just needed to rant, today was a bummer.. car searching is alot of stress.. especially when this is the start of the 4th week...

I am OG when it comes to Merkurs. No one can deny that. Thats it. End of story. No one can beat it. Sorry, stop trying everyone. I know the real story, y'all kids have fun...i'll be back.

oh and fresh was the guy talking shit about our cars, he's the guy with the type -r but we have talked and the guy is kool, so its all good.

 

Parts are hard to find for that car. Figured that he could help others out by parting it out for those that need them. A few of my friends (in Holland and England) race Merkurs as rally and track cars. They are always looking on eBay for parts. Since the car could be used as a "donor" car for someone local who has one nearly complete or an enthusiast, that would be a better solution. Why the attitude?

Have an LA3 and big VAM on the way already. Got a deal pending on a volvo intercooler and piping. Just need to pick up a couple more parts and we'll be good to go

 

i don't recall trashing your car, but yeah, me you and loco had some words a long while back....if i was trashing your car, it was evidently out of ignorance, because i've been doing a lot of research on these cars and i think they're pretty damn cool......
