Similar shit happen to me a year or so ago My legend wouldn't start had it towed there...cutting things short...nothing was wrong! I had a loose battery connection! They charged me $300 FUCKEN DOLLARS.(yes I paid) All they did was tighten it. Fuckken shit I could have done that my self. I shit on them!!!grhhhh.
i do have my panties in a wad, I am in high school and i cant just throw around 500 dollars for shit that isnt broke. thats several weeks worth of pay. Their customer service was fine, my stepdad was the one who delt with them because I was at school. He said they didnt know quite what to say when he told them he replaced the blown ECU fuse and it started up. Im not gonna say all the work that has been done there is shitty, but im just saying to be weary. oh and about the BBB comment, i was advised by 3 other adults to do that...suck my dick.

dude gear shut up seriously. i mean think if your systems stops working what is the 1st thing you check???FUSEEE. if your replace a bulb and it still doesnt work what is the 1st thing you check???FUSEEE. i mean hell why would u hack into your harness thinking you know something about cars when you dont start with the 1 thing that would blow 1st??? FUSEEE
Since we're on the topic of people not checking the obvious things first, little story.
My friends Accord passanger window wouldn't roll down. He asked me to take the car to my house, bust open the door and throw in a new window motor. I take the car home without checking it out at all, other than flicking the switch.
An hour later and after swapping in the new motor, the thing still won't fucking move. I'm pissed now, I hate losing. Then some how while I'm driving it back to him my arm flicks the window switch, and as I pull back up to work the window rolls down.
Idiot just wasted 3 hours of my time, if I could would I still charge him? I'd double it.
Same thing in the world of computers; us IT guys can do things very quickly, automated installs, autoupdating, etc., but do most of us? No - why? On call jobs like that (and mechanics) are paid by the hour.

Gear didn't hack into his wiring, his friend did. And from my personal experiences with talking to him, he doesn't come across as someone who thinks he knows everything about cars. He's just another guy on here who is interested in the whole import automotive scene and WANTS to learn.
As far as reporting the shop to the BBB, I'm one of the "adults" who recommended him to do just that. And from what some other people have stated about their past experiences with the shop, I bet it wouldn't be the first time someone has called and made a report. The main reason for making a report is to aid others in their decision whether or not they should render services from a company. BBB provides that type of data for you so you don't have to go through the same pain as others had.
If you own a business, and one of your employees performs substandardly, it is a direct reflection of the way you run your shop. Everything that happens is your responsibility. One of your workers does something good, it's because of you. One of your workers does something bad, it's because of you. There's no excuse for an automotive electric shop to misdiagnose something like that.
To me, it sounds like someone taking advantage of a teenager who doesn't know much about cars. Put yourself in this situation. You're working at a shop, and this young guy comes in and tells you his car's not running. What's the first thing you're going to check? Of course, the fuses. So you find a blown fuse. That's when you can make the decision of being honest and just charging for a diagnostic check or see how much money you can suck out of this kid's wallet. Now I am not saying this is what happened. I wasn't there. But if the shop actually didn't even check the fuses, then what does that tell you about their expertise? Or lack of....

Oh I wasn't knocking gear at all, it's definately shady business to pull things like that, but it happens in every industry. IMO your best bet to not have something like this happen, is to not go to a chain/franchise business. If you stick to family/friend owned, or the smaller businesses, they almost always treat you better.
