Decided to turbo the M3, need a good summer job.
It's going to be somewhat custom, except for the software obviously. I'm trying to keep the car OBDII so that will be the hardest part, ATP sells a kit based on the Garrett GT30R dual ball bearing, I'll probably go for the GT35R for some headroom, lag shouldn't be too much of a problem with that turbo anyways.. I'd like to be able to upgrade if I get a lower compression head for the engine (it's over 10:1 now so.. that would force me to stay under 9psi, which doesn't bother me TOO much, it's already a 3.2L.)
Thanks for the advice S1LV1A, I'm thinking more seriously about the dealerships, it would be an awesome atmosphere and I'm sure I'd learn more about the cars mechanically, at the very least I'd learn about the newer models and the concepts probably. It would be nice not worrying about where my car's parked too, if I'm working 50+ hour weeks I don't want my car sitting out in the best buy parking lot that long you know?
Good ideas..

Hey E36Dj, its me Nick (Nicom3) over on the other dtm and bimmerforums threads. Where did you manage to find a turbo setup at 5k. I wanted to stay NA for my M and thought the JIM C Cam was the only way to go but if you say the turbo is only 5k whats another 2 thousand to save up.

Seems simple to me.
-get a restricted license for work
-work all summer, make enough for the turbo
-turbo the car at the end of summer break, get my license back in time to drive it

I'll post some more info as I learn it, I'm talking to the creators of both kits ATM.

oh crap, i knew it was a bit of a tough job, but from the sound of it, it sounds like S/C or Turbo is a better bang for the buck. Definitely keep me in tuned with the info on the FI.
