well all of you who thought this and thought that are wrong :P

R32 weighs the least out of all of them...followed by the r33 and then the pig r34.

I heard they are the best handling skyline as well.
This probably won't come out formatted well but I'm going to paste it anyway. Also the reason you heard they're the best handling is because they're the lightest of the bunch. Also the most "race car" like stock. Some people feel the R34 is just to heavy and has extra features that aren't needed. I for one plan on getting the latest and greatest In any event, on with the times.
4WD Pro-GTR drag records (on slicks):

Class Owner Country Vehicle Type ET Trap Speed Induction
1st HKS Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 7.671 181.98 mph HKS GT3540R (x2)
2nd Avance Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.119 171 mph MHI TD06-25G (x2)
3rd Target Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.331 169 mph HKS GT-3037S (x2)
4th Garage Saurus Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.355 n/a HKS GT-3040 (x2)
5th A'PEXi Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 8.357 n/a IHI RX6B-TCW77LS (x2)
6th Tomei Japan Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 8.503 n/a IHI RX6B-TCW77LS (x2)
7th Bee Racing Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 8.602 n/a HKS GT2835R (x2)
8th RS Feast Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 8.667 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)

4WD drag records (on street tyres):

Class Owner Country Vehicle Type ET Trap Speed Induction
1st VeilSide Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.612 n/a VeilSide GT3540 (x2)
2nd Waste Sports Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 8.916 162.32 mph HKS GT3240 (x2)
3rd Garage Decide Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.933 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)
4th Signal Auto Japan Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 8.999 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)
5th Endless Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 9.025 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)
6th Garage SPL Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 9.104 n/a IHI RX6B-TCW77 (x2)
7th Endless Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 9.114 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)
8th Red Zone Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 9.122 n/a HKS GT3240 (x2)
9th M's Factory Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 9.140 150.39 mph HKS T51R-SPL
10th R-Make Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 9.169 n/a KKK K26 (x2)
As you can see it's a fairly even mix of 32 and 33 with hardly any 34 sprinkled in. If you're going for a 8-9 sec ET car it doesn't make any sense to get the 34, which is why most companies don't use them.

Isuzu had a lotus designed suspenion on the Impulse back in teh day. I had a turbo impulse as my first car....big piece of shit.

The r33 is teh best lookin' skyline IMO, but if all you want is RACE then looks don't matter much.

if you gotta go through all this shit to get the car on the road, how do these dudes that build hot rods from the frame up get their cars on the road?
Is it because they slap a 49 ford body on it and call it that?

why can't I call it a 240 (like I totalled mine and "rebuilt" it )

People do that. I don't want to say all the time or a lot but it does happen. Although they usually pick a car that is a little closer like a Maxima or the comparable Infiniti.

It's a Maxima with a bodykit ... and less doors ... I swear.

There's really strange rules if you bring it over as race or show car, but they escape me at the moment.

There are loopholes for things like that, i.e. kit car status and the like, plus the engines they throw in there are legal to have (as far as I know).

You can call it whatever you want, the question all comes back down to legality. If you have the money/connections, you can do whatever you want, but if you get caught, then that's your problem (as well as your 'connections')

IIRC, MotorEx's first Skyline was insured as a "240sx special edition".
