As far as the SS being the big dog, Not anymore. GM has already stated that the z28 will be the more powerful and better handling version (just like it was in 67) and SS would be the lower level v8 built for straight line. Rumor has it that GM will put IRS in the z28 and a live axle in the SS.

Dodge has announced plans to bring back the Charger, hopefully not as the 4 door but as a 2 door but we'll see. And supposedly, they will be making a 425hp Hemi soon, so I would imagine the Charger RT or SRT8 would get that big 425hp Hemi, just like in 68.

Chevy has also announced plans to bring back the El Camino using the Holden Ute from Austrailia. Another Austrailian car that may be coming to the US is the Ford Falcon, which is probably the car that I am most excited about. 4 doors, RWD, a 330ci SOHC v8, a 330ci DOHC v8, or a 4.0liter DOHC turbo i6, with either a 5 speed auto or a 5 or 6 speed manual, and IRS out back. The Turbo 4.0 is a VERY potent motor, there are aussie Falcon's well into the 10s with nothing more than boost, FMIC, and supporting fuel and air mods and slicks through the auto tranny. There is a manual Falcon with the same mods as that (The Stage III from ASP i believe) that is built for top speed. Yeah it's surpassing 200mph.

got a link to GM's statement?

oh, and Z28 in 67 wasn't that much better than the SS. 350hp in the Z28 vice 325 hp in the SS396. it did have better handling because it was based off of the SCCA racing Z28s. by 69, the SS396 had 375hp.

I'm gonna buy a 07' Camaro in 09' (sounds wierd eh?) anyways by then the Camaro should lose about 50% of it's value so I can afford it

Until then my current Camaro will be driven till 06 or 08'. Thinking about getting a 2000-2003 Audi S4 for my car before I get the Camaro.

Sorry, it wasnt in an official statement i had just woke up when i posted that. I think that the "rumor" was that the z28 was gonna be top dog according to a couple different mags, but we really wont know until GM officially says something that they're bringing back the 07 camaro and what the trim level's will be.

The z/28's 302 in 67 was SEVERELY underrated. IIRC some mag put one on a dyno and it put down about 350whp. And that was from a 302sbc, not a 396 bbc.

oh ok, unfortunately i'm going by magazines too. popular hot rodding wrote that GM is building a 5.3L RWD car on the Zeta platform that pretty much fills the same spot the camaro left. also delphi is bidding on the safety restraints for a '07 camaro. didn't say anything about trim levels though.

the 67 Z28 was never dynoed officially, it came factory rated at 290 hp. i've heard that enthusiasts have dynoed their's from 350 to 390 hp, so i can't say what's accurate.

In Motor Trend this month is about the new 6.2 V8 that will be a "hemi-killer" that will be used in trucks, suvs, full size cars, and possibly Mustang.

In 06-07 the Mustang will be available in new packages consisting of Cobra, Mach 1, and new Bosses. I want a 06-07 Boss 6.2

2007-2008 Mitsubishi GTO concept.

It keeps getting pushed back... apparently Mitsu is still developing the V-8 for it.

Mitsu will be bankrupt and you'll be whoring yourself out for parts to fix your 3000 b/c they'll be unavailable

That Camaro looks fuckin' great... I like all of them.

Ford has so many sweet powerplants in the works that the new retro Shelby Cobra and new New Mustang Cobra will kick serious ass

The new Z06 has been confirmed to have an engine called the "LS7" which will be the first produced at GM's new seperate high po motor development sight. Each one will be hand built by two tech's like the SVT motors. They'll also make the LS2 6.0 that's comming in the new C6, the SSR gets the LS2 now, and a slew of other cars will get it's new technology (what a sweet small block). Now what hasn't been confirmed is the size of the LS7... it'll be a 6.4 or a 7.0 and there's still rumors of a 3-valve head floating around, the thrid valve being driven by an auxillary pushrod atop the head (hard to describe)

The real GM secred lies in project "Blue Devil". Rumor has it GM is developing a super vette $100,000 ish to compete w/ the Ford GT and the Viper SRT-10 coupe (when that comes out in a street version). The head of GM's son went to Duke That's supposed to be a crazy car w/ twin turbos by Lingenfelter I hear, but it's just a rumor =)

I'm on top of the GM future cars cuz I tend to keep track of it for some odd reason. Heres most of what I'm well aware of:

Yes the Grand Prix is getting a 5.3 L V8 engine before spring of '05. If you manage to find any of the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix service manuals online, they have the 5.3 L V8 listed as an engine option (I don't remember the engine code unfortunately). This V8 will have displacement on demand and unfortunately it is FWD. Horsepower should be a shy under 300. I'd hope so anyway, otherwise I'm sure that car will be breaking input shafts left and right. Way to suck Pontiac, a FWD V8 car, stick with high tech V6's like everyone else.

I've heard NOTHING of the new chevelle, and I doubt there ever will be another one.

As for the 2007 Camaro, all the pictures you find of it are just computer rendered imagines made by various people, GM knows better than to release set pictures so early, GM does a good job about keeping things heavily under wraps. GM does have the new Zeta RWD platform thats due out in 2007. The next gen GTO will get this platform and Chevrolet was deciding whether to have a next gen Monte Carlo take this platform as well, or have the Camaro take it. Apparently Chevy has decided, for marketing purposes, a Camaro would sell better due to its popular name recognition so a Camaro in 2007 is what most likely what we're going to see.

As for the GTO, for 2005 the GTO gets the LS2, to my surprise, the LS2 hasn't been tuned down for the GTO, the specs are the same as the C6 Corvette, pics and info can be found here http://www.newagegto.com/05GTO.html

Cadillac is also releasing some more new cars next year. Cadillac is releasing the STS soon (they already have info on that car on their webpage), a supercharged STS-V is due out later on in the year, while a CTS-V Plus is due out with a rumored LS2 under the hood. Also the supercharged XLR-V is due out for release in the upcoming year. I posted pics of the XLR-V on this site so I'm sure you can find it if you do a search, also spy shots of the CTS-V are available on the web.

Finally, due to the success and popularity of the Hemi engine, and now the LS2 engine, Ford has decided to begin research and development on a 6.2 L V8 that will power its trucks and SUV's and could possibly find its way into the Mustang. Details are really sketch but the engine is supposed to incorporate variable valve timing.
