Idea for new Civic model... u think Honda should do it?
Here's the thing. This car would have to come equipped with an LSD, alloys, 6spd transmission, A/C, supportive seats (ala S2000), and good suspension geometry (quality shocks and springs are unimportant), and power windows. That is it. Most people that are going to buy this car want an LSD but don't have the drive nor the know-how to do it themselves. Nobody wants to by a "sporty car" with hubcaps, and everybody wants a 6 speed for bragging rights. A/C is one luxury that is a must now-a-days, and I can't say enough for some supportive seats. Suspension GEOMETRY is also very important. Shocks and springs would be changed to higher quality stuff by almost everybody but geometry you have to live with (on a side note, I hate this about my VW). Power windows don't really weigh anymore than cranks either so just go ahead and throw those in too. If Honda makes a car like that...and doesn't weight it down with a buch of stuff young people don't need, or want...it'll sell like hotcakes. Like I said, Bring back the CRX.
I actually like the current Si. Sounds to me like you're trying to build CTR coupe, which would be cool, but I'd be surprised to see it come in under $20K.
Seriously though, why not actually build a car that comes with the options desired? Don't produce a car with the intentions of shit being changed. People change poor designs and equipment. If the car came the way peopl wanted it, it would be a success.
I think this says it best:

Regardless of how much of a good idea it may seem Honda will not produce this car. The reason being, it will not outshine the Acura line. Now if the RSX ends up with a much stronger powerplant then it might be possible but that is a very large if. I personally think that producing a car of this nature would be the best move that Honda has done in a long time, but it simply won't happen.
