the 'practical' reason Mazda didn't put a turbo on the RX-8 is to KEEP THE COST DOWN!!!!
no way in hell can they re-introduce the rotary engine by starting at around $30k and expect to meet the 18000 sales they are targeting for the RX-8.... because that's what killed the FD, when it started somewhere above $35k...
RX-8 returns the rotary back to its original root (all the way back to 1979's SA22C), which is EVERYMAN'S AFFORDABLE SPORTS CAR

I've already done my homework, and the RX-8 setup I will get will be the hi-power 6 speed with the HID/DSC package for $28k
when I will get it, however, remains to be seen
