I was just throwing out thoughts here. Wouldnt be getting a brand new evo, if I even got one. The main reason I cannot afford a new shortblock is because I am still paying off the transmission. If I am going to take out a loan, I rather it be on a mint condition newer car than for an aftermarket motor. Still alot to think about.

You make that sound like a bad thing... I re-built short block w/ a forged bottom end can't be that much for a boxer 4.

version 7 short block/jdm version 8. if u dont feel like dealing with that, just pick up a motor out of a totalled usdm STi. guys are making over 500 whp on stock internals w/ race gas; 430-440 whp conservatively tuned on pump. if you can build a convincing argument why you need more than 440 whp everytime u roll up to exxon, then please tell me. the version 7 blocks and the version 8 jdm motors are effing beast, but that i know that turbo would sing with that extra displacement of the usdm STi motor.
honestly though, you would be an idiot to sell this car ben. the loss you would under go would be stupid. the car is parked anyway. your at school for months. u have no need to drive it right now. let it sit. save. buy a good motor and enjoy driving the car to the point that it's been worth every penny youve thrown into it. otherwise with a new car, your gonna go down the same road with modifications, and your just gonna throw more money down the toilet. with a new block, you would have the drivetrain and motor for a high 10 second car that also looks great. your almost there, just dont get stupid and do shit your gonna regret. you got a beast gearset now. just take your time, and finish what you started. and enjoy the car.

I hear what your saying. But if I choose to put in a new block, Im lookin at not having a car to drive for prob over year. I know that Ill loose soo much value, but its just part of this hobby. At this point, I dont want to even deal with all the little headaches anymore, just want something fairly simple to play with, and be happy with. Im still in a steemed state right now, which may be why im jumping so quickly off the suby train, but it just hurts to think that I got a good week out of my 600 dollar dyno tune before it went. I just dont need a 11 sec car, especially if its my daily driver. I still have time to think. I shouldnt jump so quickly to different conclusions, but I should still keep my options open.

Seriously dude, you're so close, don't let something so small stop you now. I'd talk to FC735 and see what he's got to offer with those two blocks he has lying around.

Ben, take a few weeks to gather your thoughts and then go from there.

My vote is to keep the car and make a plan. There is no need for you to have a beast as a daily driver. Trust me, a car is way more fun when it's reliable.
