my red car hasn't seen unleaded gas since a year ago, and it's fine. it LOVES the lead

i couldn't get sunoco 110 to knock if i tried.. pump gas is just liquid detonation IMO

How much timing w/ how much boost?

I have ran 33 degress @ 35psi w/ a T61 on C-16 and the motor loved it.

With pump gas and the same turbo I could run 18 deg @ 22psi with no knock. I agree pump gas is dangerous at elevated boost levels and race fuel is worth the power increase if you can utilize it with a proper tune.

wow, 33 is a bit hardcore, especially for that boost level.. what kindof compression are you? I'm still on the stock block. i am much less hardcore and only ran 25-26* advance @ 30 lbs

pump gas i was the same as you.. 20-22ish worked fine with 18* but any more than that would knock

and yeah jason, i did lean it out and i'd see EGTs i was uncomfortable with way before i saw any knock.. timing advance, well i don't like doing headgaskets so i didnt try to hard for that department.. but yeah, i couldn't get the 110 to lean-knock at all. most knock i have ever seen on this gas is 1 count

I am using .020 9:1 JE pistons, but they were slightly cut down, along with the head being cc'ed, copper head gasket, etc.; the appx static comp ratio is around 8.3:1.

Jesus guys, what kind of times were you turning with those boost levels and timing advance?

i was pulling 11.8s @ 119mph... couldn't get the pos out the hole worth a damn.. 60 foots were 1.75-1.8 smoking the tires so bad there was white smoke rolling out the fender wells. i'm working on the traction issue and should have that taken care of this year. i am on a different turbo this season as well, that turbo was way too small

I have solid 1/8 mile passes, no good 1/4s. Last time I was at MIR I coasted to an 11.30@108

I plan to go to Capitol or MIR this weekend if the weather permits. Hopefully nothing breaks this time

Damn, you guys make me seriously optimistic. I got a Wideband as well as a new BOV to replace my leaking currevt BOV. I currently register 44.3lb/min on pump gas, makes me envious to see such figures. 11.3@103 is insane IMO.

What do you mean by 44lbs/min? Sounds like compressor flow, but how are you sure you are actually using that much air, unless it is the surge limit of the compressor and you have no surge. If you have a solid method of measuring it on application/in use, I am curious how?

What do you tune with and what brand wideband controller do you have?

I use an Electromotive TEC II standalone and an Innovate wideband controller with an auxbox for datalogging my engine/sensor functions with the O2 readout. I have a TEC3r I plan on installing this year, which allows a wideband to be patched in and used for tuning and datalogging with the TEC. The TEC II can only utilize a narrow band O2.
