You can buy them on ebay for $5 plus shipping.. or if you just need the cd-key then they will e-mail it to you. Plus you can use the gunman chronicles cdkey which you can buy for like $0.50 on ebay.

Well, they are actual copies of the game. Valve knew what they were doing. The key codes that work are hl1, gunman chronicles and blue shift and of course the cs key codes. All of those work on steam.
