To the kid with the 400hp 240.

*EDIT* i read you said including install, so 4k, which is still possible I guess. But are you forgetting Exhaust work and tuning as well as A piggyback or standalone to achieve that number?

Alot of the KA's will come up short in reliablity because of their higher mileage and the abuse they take from the ricer fad of owning 240's. If both motors are built results might favor in the KA-T

Exhaust work and tuning were cheap.. It's nice to know people..
But I didn't spend enough because I went cheap and left the stock rods which of course ended up being my demise lol
This thread is gone all over the place.
But here is some food for thought
B16A1 $1600
CA18DET $1000
B18C1 $3000
SR20DET $1700
B18C5 $4300
RB26DETT $3200
hmm..

and that would be the difference in reliablilty towards a stock SR and KA. Plus you had the hook up. In the end I'd say two tottally build motors the KA would go further. but when comparing stock to stock internals and given you have the knowledge to install the motor yourself the KA falls short. Both are good choices though :thup.

SR's throw rocker arms at high rpms. If you build the valvetrain right, it won't happen. If you rev a CA 2k above it's redline on a stock engine, I'm pretty sure it will break, too.
That being said, my stock SR20DET would have shit all over your stock CA18DET. But I still love you.

For a kit that is totally complete and just needs to be installed and is dyno tuned, I would say that it wasnt that bad of a deal.
