i had to pause the video to make sure my itunes wasnt playing...

that is fucking awesome, never seen that. so god damn awesome, but sucks he pretty much destroyed that car. i would hate to have to take it apart and clean it

 

The launch has so much to do with it though.If you notice,the majority of the cars maintain about the same spacing after they've gotten some amount of traction.The GTR perfectly launches and drives itself for you-just hold the wheel straight(and I don't think the 458 is far from that also).The Corvette has a very obvious hard time getting off the line,which makes sense with so much torque,manual tranny and stone-age traction control.
Overall though, seven tenths of a second separated the "super" cars,which is impressive considering the road conditions looked pretty sketchy(although I believe those times are magazine test times,not the actual ETs of this particular race),and such a wide variety of engines and technology.I'd say that you line any of those cars up from a rolling start(again,exlcuding the Lotus and 1M)to exclude any low speed traction adavantages,and the results would be even closer.

 

If they all did the exact same thing, there wouldn't be a point in making different cars.

 

exactly. and if you put a consistent driver on a prepared track, it would differ.

im not saying the GTR is the end all car, or that it "drives itself" ( it really doesnt, ride in one)(because if it does, then all new super cars pretty much "drive" themselves)

there are way too many variables to that race, do i think if it was a 1/2 mile it would be different? yes, the 458 and other cars are more aerodynamic/lighter.

also suprised the ZR1 wasnt in there, because some of those cars are passed zr1 price.

and i know the brovette is very american and not exactly the easiest to launch, and from what i understand, the zr1 is extremely hard (maybe why it wasnt chosen?)


again, its just drag racing, anyone can go in a straight line, what really matters is a track with turns!

 

The really sad thing is after seeing all the times of these super cars it just hit me my Honda CIVIC is faster in the quarter mile then all these cars ahaha. Thats so sad because i would love to own like 5 of the cars in the race.
