.. and turbos don't? What's a surge limit?

Turbo's are more easily upgradable as opposed to superchargers as well. If you really can not decide then throw a lot of money down and twin charge it. You'll have the best of both worlds.

ill tell you what i see, in japan where our cars come from you really dont see too many s/ced 4banners they are mostly turbo powered if theyre using forced induction. what you do see superchargers on are american muscle cars which have tons of torque to spare to drive a sc. a good turbo setup aimed at making around 250whp isnt going to cost that much more than a jr sc setup which bairly makes 200whp, and it definately will cost less than the vortech setup with an aftercooler and bov.

as far as reliability goes, most turbo engines end up paper weights cause of one of two reasons, either the owner felt doing oil changes was an option or they decided to turn the boost higher than their mechanic told them to. avoid this and you will have a very reliable turbo car.

A properly sized turbo system (it takes more than just a turbo to make power) will not have any noticable lag, have a fairly flat torque curve, be reliable, AND make more power than a supercharger. Most people don't get a turbo sized to do that though, they get ones more for higher hp numbers which neglects on some of the other areas.

End story; turbos more efficient than superchargers. Go physics!
When people refer to turbochargers as "more efficient", this generally refers to adiabatic efficiency, not the parasitic losses. Also, I wouldnt say a turbo has parasitic losses per se, but it creates backpressure which costs power.

There would be alot less arguing here if people read the link I provided.
