I actually PMed that guy back and forth about a month ago about that car... I'd love to have it, but I'm not going to Cali to get it... It's an awesome price though considering all the initial work is already done. I agree though, the fun in it is building the car yourself...

My brother has had 2 cars shipped from CA -- one by rail (in enclosed rail car) and one by truck (covered inside enclosed truck). Rail cost about $500 to Maryland, truck was $1200 to NY.

350whp out of the stock engine (BP) will require a built bottom end, if you want it to hold for more than 1 dyno run.

the guys at ZFever in Tampa, FL have dropped an SR20det into a miata. Check the site for pics: http://www.zfever.com/catalog/galler...z=srmiata2.jpg

d) its not gonna be just a straight line car

if I was going to make it a drag car, i would go that way with the v8. but you also know i like to keep things a bit undercover on the streets and that would give it away lol
Not too shoot down your dreams or anything but the swap has been done a couple times now. I believe one of the swaps maintained the stock hood too.

Anyways, check out Freshalloy.com as the first one that was completed was documented on that site. Also, I know for a fact you'll need to make a custom oil pan as well as a custom pil pick up as the sump will have to be moved to the rear.

Along with everything else you mentioned the only other thing I can think of being a pain is the wiring. Megasquirt is a pretty good option imo since it's real easy to use/tune and cheap.

Yea, i'm pretty sure that's the one that was posted on FA, with fairly specific info on how to do the swap.

Also XAT racing in FL did one aswell.

Well I have some experience in boosting the stock motor.
I actually like the 1.6 liter better because it revs faster and takes more boost. You can run 16psi on it and depending on the size of the snail you can make up to 290whp on pump. But thats not 350whp

btw my good friend is selling his miata its a 93 white hardtop...with fully built motor and haltrech..makes 400whp and 300whp on pump for 6k...the car is sick

If you want to do 350 or so on the BP 1.8:

Get Flyin' Miata's 2.0 Stroker crate engine. Have them do headwork too.

Then head over to www.racingmazda.com and get one of their kits, run it at 12-15 psi, and you should be close.

But seriously, 350whp in a miata is a LOT. To control that power, you're really going to need some tire in the back, and they are generally limited to 245s in the rear. Any more and you'd have to do some bodywork.
