damn i didnt realize so many people go to VCU. i live in the fan right on Grove Ave w/ Anigav Inc. im going into my 4th year here and i love it. Carytown would be a awesome place to live. you have all these cool litlle places to eat and small boutiques. get a bike and it would be a breeze to get to class.

Downtown is fine. I like it.

I don't like traffic or hordes of people, the only times I go down there are to meet relatives and get lost trying to find Belvedere.
I'm just not a city person, as a matter of fact I'm starting to dislike where I live very much.
Closing off the bridge over I64 on Pouncey Tract is going to drive me insane.
I'll have to go all the way out to Ashland Rd. or cut through Innsbrook to get to work; what was a 5 minute drive now becomes a 20+.
If you like the city and all that is involved with it, its a great place.
I'm just a pessimist when it comes to topics such as this.
I've lived all over Richmond, and also recommend that you live in the Fan. But the weird thing about the Fan is that your street could be nice, but one block over will be the nastiest gutter looking ghetto. Even some of the areas around/in Carytown are super ghetto. Make sure you investigate the area around your house before moving in.
I currently live downtown and go to MCV. I like it just fine, and I grew up in suburban Va Beach and went to undergrad in rural Blacksburg. I don't think downtown Richmond is THAT city-ish.
