I only got to race one Vette (it was an M6) as well. He had full exhaust and I had full exhaust (LT's and TD's) and I started pulling on him, but we only ran through one gear.

I'd rather have a Vette, but 4th gen F-bodies were awesome.

Why? That's like you stacking the deck to support your argument. If they wanted 600 horsepower, they'd easily do it with a different pulley and tune. That's far from justifying a $20,000 price increase.

Good for Scott Settlemire. What he neglects to understand, is that the LS1 f-bodies were some of the best f-bodies created and a curb weight of 34XX wasn't bad. Mr. Settlemire can complain about the weight of the 4th Gen. f-bodies all he likes and claim that's what the problem was with them, however that has nothing to do with right now. The fact is, is that the new Camaro will be built on the Zeta platform. It's the same platform the GTO is built on and we all know how fucking heavy that car is. So unless every panel on the new Camaro is constructed of carbon fiber and titanium (which it won't be), I expect a weight very similair to that of the GTOs.

Key words: you bet. The LS1 was used from '97-'04. If the LS2/7 runs for the same length of time the LS1/6 motors of yesteryear did, this new CSB you speak of will be coming out in 2012. Last I checked, it doesn't take 6 years of research and development to up the boost on a GT500.

I'm amazed at the direction this thread is going. I figured a car that runs low 12, has 500bhp and cost $10K+ less then its nearest competitor would be praised, not slandered.

 

The GT500 motor has already beaten the LS7 though, and its in a 40k mustang, not a 70k corvette.

theres no official word of the ls7 going in the camaro and theres no official word of a 600hp gt500. my dad can beat up your dad.

but i admit youre right, as of right now ford has more options with the gt500 to beat out the camaro if it will come with the ls7.

all we know as of now is there will be a v6 and a v8 camaro with the ls2.
who knows what tricks ford or even chevy will have up their sleeves for when the other car(s) are released.

Who gives a fuck personally. What we really need to be worrying about, is that Ford has a FPV GTP falcon with a Manufacturers Plate on it in Detroit. And...its LHD. I can only pray that It comes here.
