i agree with keeping it off the streets, but there's just nowhere for a noob to go to start to learn. most guys start out stunting by doing higher speed (read:above parking lot speed) wheelies and whatnot. you need a long straight piece of pavement for that. unless someone has a runway they want to allow guys to practice on to start getting the hang of it, building skills neccesary to allow them to start doing things at slow speeds in a parking lot, then there's nowhere else to really go. yeah, there's a time and a place, and it's up to the riders judgement as to what's a safe, and what's not, time to do a wheelie on a public road.
yeah, i know it's never "really" safe.... but some times are better suited than others. i guess some people's judgement just isn't as keen as others.
If you can't keep a bike upright when a rear tire lets go or a chain breaks when on two wheels, you should go back to riding a bicycle or walking . And if you are allowing yourself to ride a bike with a tire that is in desperate need of replacement, you deserve to go down. Thats why it's always highly suggested to inspect your bike before going out. Sadly, I still see people riding bikes with bald tires and doing stunts on them as well. It's not a small percentage either. I know for a fact that it's not difficult to ride a motorcycle with a rear tire that lets go at 50+mph. I've also had belts break on me and never had any loss of control. Just loss of power.

I do somewhat agree that it is difficult to find a private place to practice but the highways and major roads are the last place you should be on doing stunts. If you can't find a private place, find a road that is 99% dead and practice there. Keep the stupidy unseen and make sure to have a friend with a truck and cell phone with you. Just in case you wreck and hurt yourself, your friend can call an ambulance for you and tow your bike home. After thinking about it, the best place to practice is on the dirt with a dirtbike. There are areas around here where you can practice on a dirtbike.

i agree about the dirtbike thing, i bought a lil 50 to learn rear brake control while doing wheelies. it helped me out ALOT.

as far as the tire letting go/chain/belt breaking thing... i didn't say it was a feat to not crash, i said that alot of people would crash. it's just a lack of experience.
MOST of the guys out making riders look bad doing wheelies and whatnot on the interstates are relatively new riders. they don't have the experience to know what you can/can't and should/shouldn't do in that kind of situation.

oh lord.. i sound like an old man....

LOL Come to think about it, I'd rather let the noobs do their power wheelies in the streets so they don't run MY ass over trying to do a 90mph wheelie in a tiny parking lot LOL. Like you metalhead LOL

I see bikers hauling ass on the hwy all the time but their 2 tires are on the ground.

I'm no drifter or cager or whatever the hell yall call it.
I am speaking out on the mere fact that popping a wheelie on teh interstate is stupid.

The fact that you can pull yourself out of an "accidental" oversteer has nothign to do with people purposly put themselves and other around them in precarious situations.

Not all of your precious bikers have the "skill" you claim to have. You fail to realize that there are otehr peopel who ride in this state that, to be perfectly honest, suck at it.

You may be skilled, you may be god on a bike but not everyone is. Ben sure thought he ws hot shit now look at him.

You must agree there is a time and place for everything, you also have to agree that your public highways are not it.

I love bikes. I think they are great. But when the actions of some put others at risk then there is a problem. Bikers who do tricks or ricers weaving in and out of traffic no matter how you look at it, its stupid.

Oh and how many peopel do you see drifting down 264/464/564/64?

I'll pause for your response.

Thank you.

One more thing, buy some damn tires.

good one! you don't see people drifting down 264 etc. cause you usually drift around turns, or didnt you know? and the point was, you stupidly said you refuse to believe something that you know nothing about, and then used the argument that you can't be in control of something when you're missing half of the contact patch, which is why i brought up drifting, break traction on 2 of the 4 wheels, still control vehicle

as far as your comments about turbo... uhh i dont see what that has to do with what we're discussing, and i do appreciate you telling me about unicycles, never would have guessed they were actually designed to ride on one wheel, had always thought it was more extreme stunters taking it to the limit!1!!!!1! if you think popping a wheelie on the interstate is stupid thats fine, i could careless, just dont make stupid comments like "ANd "skilled" biker or not I refuse to beleive that a vehicle designed with two wheels can be called "in control" when half of its contact surface is 4 feet in the air." when you've never done it yourself to know, and good refrence to ben, he got hit by an old lady in a car, that sure makes me see why someone is unable to control a bike while doing a wheelie, even though they're completely unrelated... if i'm more than likely gonna get hit by some person in a car not paying attention, i'd rather have fun on the bike while i can, how bout we do more reports about the horrible car drivers, i've never in my life drove by a multi-vehicle accident caused by a bike, its hard to go a week without seeing one involving cars, and the vast majority are during fine driving conditions which would = stupid drivers, i'll start worrying about people doing wheelies as soon as the stupid drivers that are 10x more of a threat are under control

u talkin about the frankenzuki? It could have been done--you've seen Scuba Steve on his old Bandit that thing weighed more than a car but everytime he lost control of it, it would just tip over lol.

yeah, but my motor was tuned completely different. yeah, it could have been done, but i had too much time invested in the building of that bike to risk tearing it up stunting it.
