Unless its 3000lbs, it wont be one step behind the z06. My guess is its going to be closer to 3500lbs just like its previous generation.

" Ahhh....the never-ending "price-point" argument. Let me paste a post from a friend of mine regaridng this very thing. He articulates my opinion on the matter much better than I can on my own. Just a FYI...I really like the Z06, and plan on purchasing one to park next to my TT:"

I agree and am not trying to call Porsche owners ignorant for paying so much. I actually think the interior on my Infiniti was a little better than my Z06. I actually really liked the Cayman but couldn't believe the final price by the time I optioned it out like I would want it. I would have had to fork out ~40K extra to get many cars I liked to meet the Z06 performance numbers. For me....the Z06 fit me best for what I plan on doing with it. It won't sit in the garage and be babied......I'll be trackin' it and modding it. I've already embarassed many drivers that revved on me......I think they just wanted to see if the old guy would "open" it up. No problem. I look forward to driving it everyday.........and when I get bored, I'll get something else. Take Care.........Rich

I agree with you and completely understand your position. I can't argue the merit or logic of purchasing a C6 Z06.

Along with that, it's my opinion that Porsche Turbos (all generations) are truly remarkable cars that I believe are worth every penny of their MSRP.

If I was paying MSRP for the car my decision would be very easy, but I don't think many have paid MSRP for their new ZO6s (unsure of the 997s). One local guy paid over $100k for his black C6ZO6.

only 5 seconds?

im sure being on that course, at those speeds, with those turns, 5 seconds seems like an eternity.

i think if anything with a nissan badge that is released in america cost over $50k noone will buy it. and have you ever seen the artical on the nismo gtr z-tune, that is a factory production skyline and will mop the floor with most cars.

No, 5 seconds is difference between two nearly perfect laps on the Ring. The course is so large and so long that you cant compare 5 seconds on that course, which takes 8 minutes to complete, to 5 seconds on a 1:30 second course. Its nothing alike.

5 seconds on the ring is equal to like .2 of a 1 minute lap, in other words, its nothing.

how so. the course covers almost all aspects of racing. from tight turns, to top speed. picture yourself running the course with whatever car. could you really keep up with the pro drivers? of course not, im sure noone here could. but picture your fastest possible lap, and then going 5 seconds faster.

im sure its a huge strain on the drivers knowing that their fastest time of such and such a laps could be 8:10, but its possible to go to 8:05 and below. when it gets to those points, is when you realise 5 seconds is a long time. '

the same thing applies to people drag racing, they are struggling to break records by even less than a second. to pro draggers, .10 of a second could be a long time. you just need to put it in perspective.
