you can now get V rated Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's for around $67 a tire on www.tirerack.com! Wow performance with a low price....
Now lets see how many people get 712's in the next few weeks. at least they're better than ventus... which means there still the natty ice of tires...

sorry to double post but the SHO has 5 'mounts', one front mount, two rears and two tranny mounts. They are sold in oem and tq limiting styles. unfourtunatley the Tq limiting ones are only available for 5-spds. guess they don't think 4 spd's are fast enough...
ok, skywalker, if you're talking about drag racing tires, then you may have a point about some of the tires that may choose. i look at tires for the performance that i get while taxing the hell out of the sidewalls as well as their ability to recover from standing water. i also look at Yokohama from the perspective of the race compound tires that i have raced on. i can also compare those to the BFG race compounds that i have raced on.

thanx for all the help guys.
on the same note...
THIS IS MY DAMN THREAD SO IF YOUR GONNA GET IN AN ARGUMENT GO TO SPO OR PM. thank you for not thread jacking...
if tires were beer my current tires are like utah's version of light beer. you'd have better chance getting drunk from vanilla extract...

nah, no need, as he said, we've sort of thread jacked. i know that he was talking about street tires. he mentioned wanting the ability to autocross at some point. sidewall strength is an important factor here. i say drag racing tires cause compounds that would do better at that (in a street tire) don't necessarily do well in an autocross situation. oh! and the 712's don't do too poorly in a street-driven autocrosser. they're cheap and soft and do pretty well for themselves in a street tire class. i have driven on the ES tires...didn't like them much. didn't do much for me at the limits.

sidewall strength is an important factor here.
- Long, continuous shoulder blocks reduce tread squirm and enhance stiffness delivering crisp sharp cornering.
- Extra strength sidewall inserts compliment the square casing design for responsive steering and greater control when cornering at high speeds.
- The unbroken center rib maintains continuous road control to enhance high-speed stability and traction, while helping reduce noise.
- AVS ES100's rim protector bar helps protect expensive wheels from pothole and curb damage **(a MUST if you live in DC / NoVA area).
There's much more (good details of all Yoko wheels) on their site www.yokohamatire.com

You must go through alot of tires, as the ES100's are fairly new to the market.
