I lived in Monterey, California ( central coast) for 10 years and Id get the hell out of VA in a heartbeat if an opportunity arose to move back. Cost of living is higher but people get paid more. I would not want to start over trying to meet people again but if you are in the car scene you make tons of contacts fast. Los Angeles is definately the hot spot for fast cars, non stop activities, and nice weather.

 

i love the V but i'm thinking of moving to cali after school...just go and see if you like it...

i too just moved here from monterey, ca... its ab out 1.5 hours south of the big city SF... the cost of living was way higher and it was very difficult to purchase a home thats why im here. i felt as if i was in a hole and couldnt get myself out of it there running the rat race for 2 years before coming here buying a home and moving on to the next step of my life. Sf has alot to offer it has a great import scene and alot of life to the city and the people...(even the fags)... people are people anyway you look at them you shouldnt hold it against people that they shoose a certain path for their lives.... you will need to take that into consideration when moving... is SF a place you see yourself in the future... with kids? wife? and a family.. or do you prefer the living of a nice suburb home in a quiet naighborhood... ? you will not get that in SF...
you say you have nothing really?... except a nice place to live and a good job... it sounds to me like you have a good foundation! and you need to look around harder to add to your lifestyle... more than look for a new one. because a nice place to live (reasonable) and a good job are whats gonna be the hardest thing for you to find any place you go.

good luck.. i wish you well in your decision... if you do go to SF... do not be just another fag hater. Be proud to live in a city with so much diversity... Sf is like no other when it comes to its people... well maybe NY... !

FUCK CAR SHOWS...RACING...and PARTYING. If you wanna make money, you go where it is. Your paycheck will compensate for the cost of living if you are smart and live in a rural area as opposed to the city. Just commute and live it up. My younger brothers are living it up there. If you are too scared to move there, it's better that you stay in the security of this fantasy state, where your options are very limited. Live...don't be held down if you know you can do whatever you want. I wish I was still able to just get up and go.

 

I really coouldn't tell you what to do man. I've lived in Newport News for going on 20 years, so i really don't know what the west coast is like. Never even left this time zone. Kinda sad actually...
anyways, i understand what revtek is saying. That is also scary. I love Va. like i loved my high school. It sucks, but it sucks so much less than most of the rest of the world. I don't know if i could move, but that's me. I'm very deeply rooted here, you're not. Do what you think is best for your future. And don't do it for the scene. the scene is not your life, your life just happens to coincide with the scene. if things change in your life, and the scenen isn't there any more you'll have possibly made a big mistake....
